Christmas Decorations at Mason Marcus

vintage shabby chic Christmas dining room
Well, it's that time of the year, when family gets together and I know when I get an invitation from my mother to get together at her house there will be some sort of decorating or party planning involved. Let's just say the apple does not fall far from the tree. Shopping and decorating are two of our favorite things. I wanted to share some pictures of her house and some of my favorite things.

I love the warm feeling of the house with the wood floors and architectural details. It makes for a perfect background at Christmastime.
I made this wreath a REALLY long time ago and it used to be in my house. Everyone in my family likes it when I change my style because that means free stuff for them. It fits this house too perfectly to be anywhere else.

I love the mixture of the creamy whites and the gold and silver metallics along with rustic pine cones and deer.

Birds are also thrown in with the mix on the dining room table. The glitter stars are from Pottery Barn. I love the way they age over time going from silver to a bronzy gold.
The following are some of my favorite moments on the tree. At my house the tree is not quite as "perfect".
The pink metal angle topper is so sweet. I would never get away with this at my house!

Some dreamy, creamy ornaments.

Some other lovely moments...
We "potted" the mercury glass trees.

This door hanger was part of the package that I wrapped for my mom last year. I think these would be really easy to make even though I purchased this one. It is made of felt and stuffed and has an attached ribbon for hanging. The embroidery is beautiful  but if you can't do embroidery, you could always use metallic fabric paint and attach some sequins. I might try this and show you how it comes out.

Just a few poinsettia leaves to add color.
This final picture made me laugh. If you look closely in the mirror you can see a reflection of my mom. She looks pretty even when she doesn't know she's in the shot.  Note to self...when taking pictures with mirrors, look at the reflection. Boy do I have a lot to learn. Rookie mistake! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the tour despite my lack of photography skills!
